In the aftermath of both my parents passing to cancer exactly 10 years ago, my 2 sisters and myself started a non-profit to be named after them. My mother was fond of her kids and grandkids and my dad had always considered education pivotal in his own and his loved ones’ life.
To follow up on their loving legacy, we put children support and education in developing countries at the heart of our mission. Still a small national reality in Italy, the non profit “Ape Clotilde” (Clotilde the bee, the main character in a fairytale my dad had made up to get some laughs off my nephews) has already supported the building of a nursery school in Cameroon and learning facilities at the Mwangaza orphanage in Kilifi, Kenya. Now, it is facing its biggest challenge as we are building a brand new site to host training courses for the Kenyan youth of Mwangaza; this project is meant to expand the support to those kids who are too old to stay in the orphanage but still require help to become financially independent and secure a future for themselves.
Given this important effort, I thought of sharing this with my colleagues and friends, who know me personally and may be searching for a way to extend their kindness to people in need very far from their reality. We have met the staff and kids in Mwangaza and created a stronger and stronger bond with them, and we feel we cannot let them down.
“Ape Clotilde” has been a reality for almost 10 years, surviving on the hard work of a group of people and the growing pool of supporters, who were convinced by their integrity and transparence.
We would love you to be a part of it, and in the meantime we appreciate any support you would be willing to give to this project. I will be happy to keep you in the loop for further developments if you wish.
Thanks!
